A New Awards Ceremony

I think there should be an awards ceremony, similar to the Darwin awards, but instead of for stupidity, for specious reasoning. The awards themselves can be called "Species." (Wait, the Darwin awards aren't already called that, right?)

At any rate, the inaugural award for "Most offensive specious reasoning in a television commercial" would go to Progressive Insurance. You know, the one that goes (roughly), "If they're this helpful now, imagine how helpful they'll be once you're a customer!" Granted, this is an old commercial, but I haven't griped about it in pseudo-public yet. Did the writers/producers really think that people would sit in front of their TVs and say, "wow, why hadn't I thought of that before! That makes so much sense! I'm going to get Progressive insurance now!"

Unfortunately, the answer must be yes, since this ad has been on for so long.
